General Description
Under the general direction of the Bank Consulting Director, performs management level consulting work in credit risk measurement and risk management practices for a financial institution loan portfolio of commercial and consumer borrowing relationships. The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines. The position involves managing all aspects of the loan review engagement including interacting with bank management to obtain request list items, preparing the scope of loans to be reviewed, data entry, financial analysis, conducting credit reviews during onsite and/or remote consulting engagements, analyzing internal reports, reviewing industry information, researching risk topics affecting the financial services industry, scheduling exit meetings and preparing written reports to be delivered to the client. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the needs of others, including our clients. Reports to the Bank Consulting Director.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in credit risk related consulting engagements.
- Builds and maintains relationships both internally and externally.
- Ability to work in a faster than average pace with multiple engagements running concurrently.
- Manages all aspects of the loan review engagement including on-site or remote workflow, meetings with management, exit meetings and final reports.
- Ensures proper application of policies and procedures, as well as state and federal banking regulations.
- Assists the Bank Consulting Director as requested on special projects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in finance, accounting, banking and financial institutions, business administration, economics, or job-related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in: Loan review consulting. Banking positions such as commercial lending, credit administration, internal loan review or credit analyst or regulatory experience with the Texas Department of Banking, OCC or FDIC as an examiner.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills with a persuasive, teaching style of communication
- A high level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality of bank related records and sensitive customer information.
- Highly organized and detail oriented and possess the ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments quickly, correctly, and efficiently.
- Willingness to jump in and roll up your sleeves to help out when necessary.
- Ability to lead by example, with first-hand knowledge within the banking industry.
- Strong, yet friendly follow-up necessary on tasks delegated.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles including business and consumer financial statements.
- Proactive, with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned work on time and correctly.
