Position Overview:
We are seeking an entry-level Benefits Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals with a foundational understanding of retirement plans who are eager to build their expertise in plan administration. The Benefits Specialist will play a key role in managing compliance-related tasks, calculating contributions, determining plan distributions, and preparing essential reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Knowledge: Apply basic knowledge of retirement plans to assist with plan administration and client inquiries.
- Compliance Reporting: Assist in the completion of compliance-related reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Plan Distributions: Determine plan distributions in accordance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
- Contribution Calculations: Calculate plan contributions, including matching and profit-sharing contributions, based on plan specifications.
- Form 5500 Preparation: Prepare and review Form 5500 and other required filings, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
- General Plan Knowledge: Maintain a working knowledge of plan documents, compliance requirements, and industry best practices to support daily tasks.
- Client Support: Provide general support to clients, answering questions and addressing concerns related to their retirement plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of retirement plan administration and compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in retirement plan administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in retirement plan administration or a related field is a plus.
- Familiarity with compliance reporting and Form 5500 preparation is advantageous.
