About Us

When AC Upleger began serving his very first clients shortly before the outbreak of World War I, he couldn’t possibly have imagined that his modest, Waco-based accounting firm—nor the town in which it was born—would reach the level of recognition and sophistication both enjoy today.

Since its founding in 1913, Upleger’s firm saw its fair share of growth and change, eventually becoming part of the national firm of KPMG. The modern era of JRBT’s history can be traced back to 1989, when partners Larry Jaynes, Mike Reitmeier, Gary Boyd, and Jim Therrell acquired KPMG’s Waco office, establishing JRBT.

These days, JRBT’s team of more than 100 professionals assists clients with tax consulting and compliance, audit and assurance, business support and payroll, employee benefits, and business valuation. Clients come in all sizes, from individuals to small businesses to large corporations.

JRBT is also an independent member of the BDO Alliance, which is among the industry’s largest associations of accounting firms. With the vast network of resources we’re able to access through the Alliance, there is no accounting need too large or complex for us to handle, whether you’re doing business domestically or internationally. While our clients enjoy the close, individualized attention typically associated with a smaller firm, our alliance with BDO gives them the benefit of services that are global in their scope.

Although we’ve grown from rather simple beginnings to become one of the most modern and diversified accounting firms in the country, we’ll admit to steadfastly clinging to certain vestiges of our past. The values that built JRBT more than a century ago still define us today as much as they did back then—qualities like honesty, trustworthiness, and kindness.
