Our Mission

To be the region’s most trusted accounting firm by serving our clients with integrity, investing in our employees, advancing our profession, and improving our community.

Our Story

As one of the most diversified public accounting firms in Central Texas, Jaynes, Reitmeier, Boyd & Therrell, P.C. provides more than the traditional accounting, auditing, and tax services to clients from our Waco office. Our clients represent all facets of the local economy, from small individually owned businesses to large organizations and industries. The firm has received an unqualified opinion with no letter of comments on its Quality Control Reviews since its founding.

More than 100 years and still counting

1913 was the year the Brazos flooded great swaths of the river valley and permanently changed its course. And, like the river, the town of Waco expanded too. The population grew to more than 26,500. Streetcars hurried people down the avenues. The new Hippodrome Theater was built. And AC Upleger started his accounting firm in the new Amicable Life Insurance Building, the impressive 22-story skyscraper that still dominates the skyline today.

In the century that followed, Waco saw big changes, and so did Upleger’s once modest accounting firm. The company’s timeline reflects a history of partnerships, mergers and partings of the way. But even though it was, for a time, part of the national firm of KPMG, the Waco office continued to focus on local clients.

That commitment to local service eventually led partners Larry Jaynes, Mike Reitmeier, Gary Boyd and Jim Therrell to acquire the Waco office from KPMG in 1989 and establish JRBT, becoming a purely local firm once again.

These days, JRBT assists clients with tax consulting and compliance, audit and assurance, business support and payroll, employee benefits, and business valuation. The firm has approximately 90 employees. Clients come in all sizes, from individuals to small businesses to large corporations.

Upleger, one of Texas’s earliest certified public accountants, wouldn’t recognize the accounting business today. He would be amazed at the complexity of the tax code and the regulations and laws modern businesses contend with. And he would be surprised by the technology the firm uses. There’s no doubt, however, that he would be happy his firms legacy, much like the ALICO building, still stands as an asset in Waco one hundred years later.
